Pick a start month, add funds, SIF strategies, NPS schemes, gold, silver or a fixed deposit, and set how much goes into each every month. Every instalment is bought at that day's real price, so you see the value of the investment over time, including periods when it was worth less than the amount put in.

How this is worked out: each instalment is invested on the chosen date every month at that day's price, or the next day a price exists. Funds and SIF strategies use their published NAV (adjusted for any face-value change), NPS uses the scheme's PoP NAV, gold and silver their rupee price. An investment cannot start before its first price: instalments before that are not invested, and the table says when it really began. Value is at the latest price on or before the end date. No exit load, tax, stamp duty or brokerage. XIRR is the yearly return based on the dates money actually went in, which accounts for the timing of each instalment for a SIP. The fund you pick decides the plan (regular or direct).
